If some of you have a problem with this practice, well suck it up princess, becasue i'm not changing my protocol for retiring a dropped biner.

anyways....hellavu thread derail.

You should review this thread: it was YOU who got all bent outta shape at others'
common practice, lambasting THEM for what you asserted was a terrible
abuse of 'biners. And there was also the 3' drop rule--imagine!
And no amount of revelation of the lack of basis for your assertions has diminished the
Din of your Damnation!
But, these subsequent posts have put on this record some facts and others' assessments
of 'biner durability, so that at least those who choose to do so can base
their practice on reason, not rant.

I tend to agree with the test results that the strength of a ‘biner will not be compromised by a drop. After all the small shock of a fall is nothing in comparison to the 1000’s of tons of force that were used to create the device.

I would however be concerned that the drop to a hard rock may have caused a small sharp edge or even a rough impression that could slice a piece of webbing or a rope like a knife.

Just my 2 cents.
