Setting traverse w/foot-mounted slingshot

I did an in-tree test of a foot-mounted traverse slingshot I've been working on. Here's the video:



Caution: the traverse technique shown is not a beginner technique, as always, try all new gear and technique low and slow.

Finally we are getting rain in TX. All at once thou - 24 hrs of rain so far w/o stopping!

Indeed. I posted the video on TCI, TCC, and the rec climbing sections of Arboristsite and TreeBuzz. I'm very excited about the combined potential of the foot slingshot and the Dangle technique for canopy movement. The grapnel (Dangle) technique I showed is one more iteration in a creative chain of ideas worked out by climbers on the TCC (Tree Climbers Coalition) forum. Icabod (Cam) and J~Bird are the originators of the Dangle, my contribution is a slight twist on a great idea. A free exchange of ideas across the various tree climber communities is very productive and advances the possibilities for everyone. I'm very proud to be a part of it.

There was the potential of getting the grapnel tangled in the foliage near the branch but you made it look easy! I liked the Inspector Gadget slingshot. Make sure those footstraps are tight though as I'm sure the slingshot doesn't taste as good as it looks!!
