Which books - and where to buy was created by crtreedude
I have a opportunity to get a few books on climbing - some friends are in Florida and are returning in about 2 1/2 weeks.

So, which books are MUST HAVE for climbing and who do I buy them from if I want to get them to Florida in 2 weeks?

Thanks

Fred

I learned most of what I use in RTC from the Tree Climbers Companion, By Jeff Jepson, 2nd Edition. Basic stuff in an easy to read format. It is targeted to train future Arborists but It covers all the Tree Safety, gear inspections, common uses and proper use and alternative ways to use gear. Very nice and low cost book.

Great - I noticed someone mentioned, On Rope, is this also a good one for the library?

Get the Tree Climbers Companion. It is so affordable. It's worth $50, at LEAST.

On rope is very good...definately worth it.

I'd add in Ashleys Book of Knots. Might be hard to find, and might cost you $60, but you will find yourself referring to it constantly. It's like a knot-dictionary!

love

Crtreedude . This book won't teach you any thing about climbing technique , but it will help you to better understand the structure of the tree your climbing . Its written about european trees but the info do's travel the book is "The body language of tree's" by Claus Mattheck and Helge Breloer a walk in the woods will never be the same again enjoy :)
