Quick question....is there any reason I should be using a backup of some sort while climbing SRT? Specifically, I am using the CMI Ultrascenders and am connected (at the saddle) to both the upper and the lower ascender.

Do I need something else, say above the upper ascender, or am I square just using the 2 ascenders.

Thanks

You should be just fine with 2 connection points that go to your saddle. You could add a prussik loop above your top ascender just incase the top once come undone so you wouldn't fall until the other ascenders slck was takin up. I personally like to always way a rope going from my saddle to my line. I don't personally want to rely on mechanical ascenders as my only means of being connected.

See you at the top.

A prusik backup is a wise thing to have when using handled ascenders. It is possible for the ascender to slip if you accidentaly thumb the cam, if leaves or debris get stuck in it, or for a number of other reasons.

Once you put the prusik on you won't even notice that it is there.
