You folks been noticing that certain words get the \"_\" character added before and after certain words in your posts? If you try and edit it out \"_\" doesn't appear in the edit window. Apparently the message board engine automatically adds this to words from some predetermined library, words that might be used in a coding language but can also be used in normal language.

Let see, here's a test, I'm just going to type some words that I've noticed that trigger this. Note that the \"_\" doesn't appear in preview, only after you've posted.

Interesting. Some of these words get used in our conversations, any way to remove this bug? It's probably hard-coded but maybe it can turned off.

I've noticed it has to do with those

I was using the word m e t a l for something and it made it metal

I think it thinks the word m e t a is for something else.

Hi everybody,
Here's what our webmaster has to say about this:

\"This is a security measure to reduce the chance of a type of attack called 'cross-site scripting' , or XSS. These words are names of HTML tags that can be used to trick the browser into sending information to another web site.\"

He suggested we disable this feature but then there was the possibility of our website being compromised, so -- sorry -- we'll just have to live with it.

Fragmented words such as metal m-e-t-a-l seem to be the most obnoxious cases. It will also mess up posted links.
