Where to climb? was created by m_morgan
So I live in downtown Sacramento and and wonder what trees i can climb. I work for a trimming company so I climb alot of tree but only for hire. For Those of you who dont know sacramento is the capital of the world, yes more than Paris. Anyway on to my question. I am wondering if I its ok to climb city trees. There are so many parks within the city with huge old elms and big california Sycamores wihtin them and would love to climb some of them. Not to mention the view of the city would be awesome. Anyway some feed back would be great. Would the city really care? Or should i just go for it?

Does the city have a web site? If so it should have rules and regs for the city parks. If you climb without knowing and get cited for breaking the rules you could end up paying a fine. Since you are already in the tree care business it might make sense to contact the city tree warden or head arborist. They can give you the scoop directly. They might encourage you or better yet ask to climb with you.

m_morgan ~ This is a great topic, because I suspect that a lot of climbers lust after some public trees that we see while driving down the street, in parks, etc.

Would you post an update letting us know what happened with your inquiry? Who you interacted with, how it went, what came of it? That'd be great! (and hopefully inspiring for other climbers to do the same...)Or did you just go for it and see what happens? Well.... what happened?

Do tell! Thanks!

Eric
