Climb data base?

I'm not sure if this is the best idea... but it just occured to me, why don't we have some sort of climbing data base? I am thinking something searchable that would let people search by location where to climb. Relevant information could be: directions, who to contact about climbing (if permission is necessary), where some good trees are in the forest, trail maps, etc. I think it would be a great resource -- the only drawback I see is that maybe some places would get too much use from a system like this... if it's great spot, there might be crowding or the like, and that's no good. Let me know what you guys think, or if something like this already exists.
