pine branches break more easily in winter?

Earlier today, I read an old post (~2002) on another site and it made me wonder a little bit. An arborist cautioned that pine limbs break more easily when temperatures are below freezing. I'm interested in what you're experience is since, here in Flagstaff, ponderosa pines are the larger, prevalent guys. Whadya hear?

Seasonal variation in limb strength?

He didn't get a direct answer but what I gathered from the thread is that structural integrity of the limb is more important then air temperature.
