Treeman mentioned in another thread that he could use a little coaching on how to put photos in TCI message board posts, here's the first of two methods...

1. First you need a place to put your photo JPG on a web server.

I like to use http://www.flickr.com it's a free photo hosting service on the web. There are many free photo hosting services, not all allow you to directly link to the photo from another website, flickr does.

Flickr makes it easy by automatically resizing the photo to several web friendly sizes. You can choose whichever size you want to use for your TCI posting.

You may also have some free web space available as part of your internet access service (ISP).

2. After you have your photo uploaded to a web server (like flickr.com) view the photo with your web browser. Copy the photo's URL from the browser address bar.

Flickr has a special way to do this. Click on "All Sizes" above the photo you want to use. Select the size photo you want from the available options. Flickr displays the URL below the photo that you selected, copy the URL.

3. Now go to the TCI message board and create a new post (or respond to an existing post). Just above the text entry window you'll see a row of buttons in the "Formatting Mode" row. Click on the "Insert an image" button, it's the fourth button from the right. It will prompt you to enter the photo's URL. If you have already copied the URL from your web hosting location you can just paste it into this window.

Here's an example of a photo hosted by flickr.com, I made good use of my TCI sticker:

Using Flickr, can we attach more than one picture to a Reply on TCI?

This is an easier method but it has some limitations.

You can attach an image by using the "Attachment" feature just below the text entry window when you create a post.

1. First you need to resize your photo to the dimensions you want it to be displayed in your post.

2. Then create a new TCI post or respond to one. Below the message editing window you'll see the "Attachment" row. Click on "Browse" and locate the image on your hard drive.

The image will not display in "Preview" mode but will display at the bottom of your message when you post it.

The downside of this method is that (as Tom Dunlap has pointed out) you can only put in one image per message. Also images posted this way are being hosted by the TCI web server so they'll cause more drag on the server than images hosted externally (as described in the first post in this thread).

Yep, you can stack as many images as you want in one post.
