Just took my new rope runner for a climb today. Also have a rockexotica Rocko oval carbineer to attach to (what the manual recommends for smooth operation and avoiding the skull and crossbones symbol). My initial impression: very nice, smooth, strong and simple design. To me the bird(metal top part that you pull to descend)has the feel of a prusick tension(which is adjustable for different rope sizes) however pull too hard and you are going down like a rocket. I learned this 10 feet off ground. I was testing my speed of descent and once you reach a tipping point on the bird you go real fast(skull and crossbones). So I proceed to climb 30-35 feet tying slip knots every 10 feet on climbing line just incase with my inexperience I pull too hard on that bird. But feel I will get comfortable with it soon enough. I try to climb everyday for an hour.
