Ankle Strap?

Is an "ankle strap" a standard bit of cave climbing gear? Who sells these? I've never seen one except for Gerry B's DLRW video. All I see at Karst or REI are the foot loops like the one Petzl offers. The strap that Gerry uses in the video seems to have the advantage that it would never shift around on your foot or come off accidentally.

Checkout the On Rope web site. As I remember it looked like Gerry's ankle/footstrap was homemade.

I don't know. His strap looked pretty nice and he commented about it as if it was standard equipment -- and indeed you are correct Onrope1 has what they call a Soft Step .

I have one of those made by REI a long time ago. Given to me by a caver friend.
