Rope Question was created by burrdoc
Need some ideas for a rope to use on a stone path down a steep hill to a creek. Will tie from post to post. Needs to be at least 1/2 in and last forever in all weather.
Thanks,
Randy

I would try some roap made for boating. Its made to get wet and be outside in the elements. Polypropolene or polyester is your bets choices I think.

I would tend to agree with Ace. Marine rope does last a long time. For climbing...no good. For your application, I think it would work great.

If you can get a long enough length, try tying an overhand knot in the line about every 4 feet or so. This will give extra grip on the ascent, and will also help prevent rope burn if someone were to slip on the descent.

Thanx for the suggestions. Especially the overhand \"safety\" knot idea. I already have a hernia from lifting more rock than I could carry for the path. Need the rope badly!
