I Just had a quick look at this helmet as i'd never heard of it. Just wondering, it says "ample ventilation holes" but to my eyes i cant see all that many. Does anyone else think that this may end up being a fairly warm helmet on sunny days? I climb in an ecrin rock, plenty cool.
Anyone out there have an overly warm helmet?

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the photo but the product info said it was well ventilated. It does make me wonder how cool the hemets with the solid foam interior are compared to the suspension helmets (like the Ecrin roc). Seems like the suspension helmets give you plenty of air circulation

The helmet in question should have vents, that is how my friend recieved his. I would ask if it does have vents and plugs. When you recieve it the vents should be plugged. If you want it cooler then just remove the plugs.

However I do not use it. I want something that is very cool like the Rock. However, some org. or clubs, etc. will require a type of helment to be used. For example if you are also a caver then a rock may not be pratical. Saying that, I have never seen a group/org./club turned down a rock.

I had a look for the vertex a short time ago and could only find one store in the Sydney/New south Wales area of australia which had the Vertex. (and it was online only, no shop front or factory outlet,
so i couldnt try it on) For some reason the other climbing stores or arbor websites just didnt sell it.

Bit of a bummer, i wanted to try one on.

Cool looking helmets has an appeal. However, if you work trees as a tree worker, consider a helmet that is rated for front, back, and side impact. Most rock climbing helmets are rated for top impact only. Consider what kind of climb you will experience. I use a Vertex myself with vents of course because it is hot state side in the south. However, it is a little heavy. I frankly forget about that weight when I am aloft. For me the weight is worth it because of my vulnerability for impact from all directions.

Wesspur has an add-on visor/face shield and ear protection for the Vertex here

I would suggest wearing the helmet - most good sporting outfitter store will order a helmet - i checked out six -and found the one like the mentor with the liner in them were hotter. i tend to over heat and have a cycle and kayak helmet that have liners and vents= I went with the ercin as it was a suspension setup and i have been in the trees when the temps hit 95 and had no issues with over heating - this is a very light helmet - again try them on - as putting 80-100$ into a helmet and it not being what you want is a costly error.
