I have one and love it. The only thing missing is that it doesn't lock at every joint, which is not a big deal since each section has enough resistance to be useful for anything other than retreiving a big branch which you wouldn't do anyway right? For anything really heavy though you can simply angle it somewhat to put the force to the side. It is light and folds very small to about 1 1/2ft yet extends to about twenty.

I made one a couple of years back using a telescopic golfball retriever, it works fine. Only cost me about $10.00 on ebay.
