throw weights was created by Dietley

Time to get a new throw weight or two. Anybody have any recommendations for tough ones? I've only owned Weaver ones so far, and although I haven't had problems with them, I'm always interested in upgrading whenever it's replacement time.
Any suggestions?

For a reason that I can't explain, I refuse to purchase a throw weight. My last climb used a potatoe or was it a potato. Previous throw weights have been chunk of wood, rock and nerf football with a tail fin.

The Harrison Rockets are the cream of the crop. I have one 8 ouncer that I love.

I think Fresco is the only place to get it.

I like weights that are more pear-shaped and have a loose-fitting bag as opposed to the stiff, torpedo-shaped ones that drill themselves into the muck on the forest floor.

I have several of each and I'm not plannning to throw any away, but that's what I look for when I need to replace one.

Sherrills Throw Weights Question.
I got a 10 oz throw weight (vinyl coated nylon) catalog #27528 from Sherrills last month and after a few weeks of use (including some hard hits on the grown (pavement) it is getting undone at the seams. Any ideas how to repair it, recover it or return it for a new one?

The ones I got from New Tribe are over 2 years old and still in fairly good shape under the same type of (ab)use.

Hello Nick, Just one of the seams length wise is falling apart. The ring and other parts are fine but if I keep using it the inside pellets(lead) will come out. I tried covering the whole thing w/ duct tape but even that comes apart after a few hard hits on the ground. It looks like the quality of the vinyl becomes weak when they stitch it together at the factory.

My advice...climb in the WOODS, there's alot less hard surfaces!

No seriously, my friend uses a bag that is 6oz. lead 4oz. duct tape. Just keep a roll on hand and tape it tight, should get a couple good years out of it.

When I make throw bags I use vinyl coated ripstop, dental floss, and a medium straight stitch. I use steel disks (punch outs from a machine shop, less toxic than lead) dropped inside a thick balloon thats tied off before sewing on the ring. The ripstop is tough as nails and bright floro-orange so you can find it easy.

The only person you have to be better than, is yourself from yesterday.
