Ohio Climbing was created by Oldtown138
Hello All,

Looking for anyone in the area that's interested in getting up into the trees. I got into climbing from a research standpoint, however I mostly just love climbing. I have a variety of gear with a couple techniques I like specifically, but I am interested in learning new styles. Anyone that shares this passion or interest should contact me.

Thanks,
Nathan

Nathan,

I was curious wehere in Ohio are you? I am just across the MI/OH border. I would be willing to drive a ways if you are close to MI. Let me know. I am still a beginner and need to purchase gear still, but would love to learn from you and your experience.

James

James,

I am in Southeastern Ohio on the WV boarder, so kinda far. However, my three friends and I always climb in the Hocking Hills area. Hocking Hills State Park has a designated rock/tree climbing and rappelling area. There's some impressively tall hemlocks and beech trees that are great to get up in. It's definitely a great place to spend a weekend, there's a TON of sites to see. Definitely my favorite place in all of Ohio. It's also in the same area of the 600yr old white oak I posted pics of on the climbing report/sharing topic on the forum board. Anyways, between the four of us there's a lot of gear, experience and information so if you can ever make it down let me know.

Between my friends and I we have plenty of gear for you to use and try out. If you could get ahold of a harness that would be a plus, although I think we could find one somewhere. We do a lot of climbing in the Hocking Hills area in Logan, OH. Are you coming from Michigan?

Stevo,

I occasionally travel to Geneva on the Lake to visit family, perhaps we could meet up and climb one weekend?

That sounds good to me, 88....
I'm guessing after the first of the year???
Weekends are my only option as of now.
Especially with the mild weather....all my "Customers" are frantically trying to install all the gasoline they can to make up for the long winter and mild wet spring and summer this year.

Send me a PM a week or so in advance, and I'll meet ya.

Happy Holidays.

V.

Lets keep an eye on the weather for the coming weekends, and play it by ear.

Stevo,

I believe I will be traveling to Geneva January 16. Not sure what the weather will be like, but maybe we can get a chance to climb that Friday or Saturday. I will keep you updated.

So did ya make it in???
I have plans this eve, but can free up for a couple hours today...
Traveling a couple of them probably would not be in the plans, but maybe we could meet up for a few kinda close to me....like maybe you cold pop off the interstate when your 10-76??

If not, no worries.....My "Honey-do-list" is quite extensive, so it won't break my heart to not have to leave for a couple hours....if ya know what i mean......

Yes, I was able to make it up. I don't really have any plans today, but I'll have to see about getting to your area. Where exactly would you want to climb?

Good idea, Steve. Time to move this conversation off the Forums into private territory!! I'm not too comfortable with people publishing their phone numbers to the public.
Thanks.

I've noticed some of these posts are dated but I hope still relevant. I live and climb here in Ohio. I've been tree climbing since 2010, so not the longest time. I got my training at ACRT in Cuyahoaga, they have a great program for anybody that is interested in learning professionally. I work in forest health as well as arboriculture so I climb for my job fairly frequently. I have my own gear and a list of sweet climbs all over the state. If any of you ever want to climb just start a conversation and we can arrange an ascent in the near future.
