Not me, but I did kayak the Apostle Islands last week. Saw lots of birch trees.

Apostle Islands are beautiful. Not real close to me, but always a cool place. All of the shorelines in WI seem to be packed with birch.

Do I count? I'm coming back to WI for a couple days in september!!!

Once from WI, always from WI. Did you do any rec climbing of bigger trees in WI when you were here? I don't really know of any good places to go that have bigger trees. It seems like the only big trees I see are on customers properties and they always want them cut down.

I climbed a bunch of 100' oak trees and some nice sized elms around the Ripon area. There is a great patch of woods called South Woods where I started my rec climbing!

I might have to go back to find the very first tree I ever climbed. That was about 10 years ago...

I see your in Appleton, great place! The Wisconsin Tree Championship was just held there for the second year, by chance were you there?

Hi Russ. I was at the climbing comp the last 2 years. Last year I volunteered as a belayer at the speed climb event. This year I was supposed to be selling food for the WAA but that portion got rained out. Were you there for the comp this year or last?

Funny thing is, I am sitting in my sisters family room in Minneapolis right now. I did a bit of climbing yesterday to fix some problem trees in my sisters yard. We also went to REI yesterday and pick up some new slings.

Funny how time slips away.

Actually I have been there the last four years. Two in Madison and two in Appleton. Get there on Thursday night and stay until Sunday.
I kind of make a road trip out of it. Get on the m/cycle and take my time. First year sucked because of the rain, this year was nothing like the first year. WAA is the best. Great group of guys and lots of participation from the membership.
