New Year's Snow Climb

Bermuda tree climber Fiona (Bermie on the arborist forums) showed up in town and a strong low pressure system from Bermuda backed into the Gulf of Maine to dump snow on New England. Bermie called up local tree climber Greg, he called me and off to the woods we went to enjoy a New Year's climb in a fine old white pine.



Best quote of the climb was from Greg:
"If I smile my teeth will freeze"

Best quote from me was just as the other two climbers were going down:
"Can I have my Grigri back so I can get out of the tree?"

Fiona's smile was all she needed to communicate.

Haha! It's all subjective. I was totally comfortable, Greg doesn't usually climb in cold weather and didn't dress warmly enough. It was relatively warm for a winter climb in the mid to high 20's f, temperature changed during the climb, went up a couple degrees.

If you hadn't given me those atlas winter gloves and handwarmers I would have been really cold!

I don't think I could dress appropriately and then get my saddle to fit over it.
