Zone 1: The Wide Angle View
Cracked branchLook at the tree from a distance to get a feel for it as a whole. Sometimes a tree’s lean will be more evident seen from afar. Never climb a tree with a severe lean! It might be easier to see branches that are broken or split, such as the crack in a major branch (leader) at right. Sometimes branch angles will look out of place or unusual. Power lines are often seen more clearly from a distance. Don't go near a tree such as this one if you see obvious signs of danger.
