Everyone ok after Katrina? was created by moss
Hope everybody's ok in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Sounds like the aftermath is potentially worse than the initial event for some areas. Hopefully your homes are intact and your trees are still standing. Good luck getting everything back together.

The event with Katrina has left me with a very sad feeling;as I listen to the news reports it just gets to me. So many people have died,so many just on their own walking around waiting for help.I know help is on its way;the organization of the assistance must be very difficult to set in motion. It just doesn't seem fair.

John, I think everyone on the TCI board relates to what you're saying. I hope we'll be hearing from charlieB at some point who (I think) is located in Louisiana.

One of the joys (and sadnesses) of being part of a board like this is we get contact from people all around the country and world.

I'm sure that the last thing CharlieB or others there are thinking about is checking out an internet forum. But when you (CahrlieB or others) do get to log on, know that we are and have been praying for you.

Lance,

As you know we got off the mississippi gulf coast in time, I've been trying to get ahold of you but I'm unable to call into Miss.
Just want to let you know that we are OK and thanks for the calls and checking in. I hope all is well with you and Hollie. Call me at New Tribe.

I talked to Lance today. He's still without electricity. His grove survived but neighbors lost big trees. Although his flight to the Rendezvous was scheduled out of New Orleans, he still plans to attend.

Thanks for the update.
Sorry I missed you. I was in Oxford, with JB, on Tuesday. It would have been nice to have checked out your grove but as you can imagine things were pretty hectic. Next time Ill be sure to get ahold of you;)
Are you still planning on attending the Rendezvous?

Good to here from you Elliot! Glad all is well there.

We were pretty much only inconvenienced here. There were some deaths in Jackson and my home town of Carthage 45 min North of Jackson due to falling trees.

Here is a link of some pics of my neighbors house and the TCMS grove.

The Dobby Seven Sisters Live Oak of Mandeville, Louisiana

Hi every treeclimbers friends,
how are you there, hope that you all fine after the Hurricane Katrina.
I need your help if possible.
In Lewisburg , Mandeville, there is the largest Live oak (200 fountain Street) of the States and the world.
Could you tell me if it is safe, and also the owners. If some of you can try to meet them, and tell me. Tell them that I think of them too.
If the oak still alive we will organize a slideshow under the tree, OK? and also the project is to ask your government to protect as world heritage this Live Oak.

If some of you can also go to Slidell, at Honey Island Swamp, one of my friend is there and has an ecotour. His name is Dennys Holmberg: http://www.gator-den.com/
Thank you in advance.
Bonne chance.
