I know this is a little far from the Tree Climbing realm but it is inspiring anyway.
I hope you enjoy it.

nice link old timer.

In cumbria, the northern slopes of some valleys are covered in junipers. The berries smell great. But it wasn't for the gin that they were planted. Apparrently (according to a lecturer of mine way back near the beginning of my learning) the charcoal made from juniper is very fine and a favourite of the gunpowder makers. For some geological reason not yet discovered by me, the slate mines are all on the south facing slopes. They used the gun powder from the north-facing slopes juniper for their blasting.

At the risk of stretching the metaphor in the article. follow deep the roots of your soul and discover that which make the difference between a fizzle and a bang.

:( yes... that was stretchig the metaphor too far.

anyhow, i enjoyed the article.
