I’d be real interested in hearing from someone that actually spent a few hours “on rope” with this thing. I can understand it’s function on DRT but how the heck can this thing work on SRT? ? ?

Thanks,
Electrojake

I have seen Tom Dunlap climbing SRT with as the top device and a regular one under. I understand that Tom is in Germany talking and touring and when he returns he will be living in Hotlanta. see his new company: Tom's new Company

Hope this helps,
Dan

It's quite nice. I am a member of an outdoors club in New York, and we had Morgan up one Saturday in the fall for a demo and a little climbing. As I understand it he's constantly refining the design (the new one uses replaceable Aluminum plates that take the most wear). I found it nice to control DRT or SRT, with the DRT system it's self advancing, which is nice -- but unlike and ascender it can decent while in the auto-advance setup. All in all, it's a nice tool, and made by a local guy not a warehouse.

One SRT it works well, you just push it up the rope (and unlike some handled ascenders you don't have to get it at an exact angle to go up the rope) and it advances. I was using it with a Pantin and it was gravy :)

Sounds like an incredible device.
I’m happy to hear that Morgan is still tinkering & refining the thing.
It sure would be great to see it marketed to the climbing public in the future.

Thanks for that up-date!

The Uni that I have works really well on DdRT but it needs just a little massaging to work smoothly on SRT.

The concept that Morgan has come up with has the most promise of any climbing device around.

There are a lot of pictures on Treebuzz too. Search the archives.

Strong limbs and single ropes!
