Now that is a Nice Article.
Light, informative, lots of names I recognize. :)

This is the sort of documentation that helps casual climbers like myself spread the word. People think I’m nuts until I can show them something, a brochure or a brief non technical article that shows recreational tree climbing really exists. Its not a cult thing, it’s a healthy person and/or family type of thing.

Like mountain bicycling. You can take a family ride through the park or take it to the limit by doing down-hill on a $8000.00 bike at 85 miles an hour (I think the record is 132 mph). Just like tree climbing, simply pick your point of indulgence and enjoy.

The new Sherrill Rec catalog, the not-so-new New Tribe catalog, plus a selection of short articles such as the one Ponderosa linked to…
It’s all helping me to put together a package of information I call the: ”See, I’m not nuts, there really is a cool family sport called Recreational tree climbing”.

Thanks for posting that link!

Yeah…
My problem is trying to convince the general public that people other than NUTS climb trees. <sigh>
