I've been picking lengths of this stuff up in various diameters. Any opinions on it? It does not have a sheath or outer braid.

Dyneema is extremely strong, and resistant to abrasion, and very low stretch. This is the same stuff Zing It throwline is made from. It has a melting point considerably lower than polyester or nylon, however. (291F?) I have not used this particular cord. I'd be interested to hear what you think of it.

I would like to try some of it for hammock anchors, I have some whoopee slings I made from 10mm tenex
they work really well but are a bit bulky.
Have you had a go splicing it?

I am not particularly cord-savvy. I use Beeline on my lanyard but that is about the extent of my experience, and I am not yet a splicer. I had not looked into the temperature characteristics. That is a good idea.

Yes, it would definitely not be acceptable for a friction hitch, but I imagine it could work very nicely to anchor a tree boat.
