Hi all,

I'm wondering what the best green laserpointer is on the market for tree climbing / tree assessment.

I have looked at the 5mw green Mag Model Day Laser Pointer from SherillTree, the Beamshot GreenBeam 50 Tactical, and models from Wicked Laser.

I like the idea of an impact resistant and waterproof design from Beamshot though the Sherill laser looks nice.

What laserpointers do you use and why? What power level is it?

I queried their site. They did mention wicked lasers which are lower on my list of choices.

The site doesn't let me log in unfortunately.

I use a 200 mW Wicked laser. Get the extended 2 year warranty. This unit is much brighter than the laser you will get at Sherrill Tree. Make sure you get the green color!

I run a tree inspection business. I save a lot of talking and pointing by using this laser pointer. It always impresses the clients. It's that bright!

Thanks Treeman! Wow, I was thinking 5mW green. 200mW sounds way more fun.

Have you had any issues with the safety screw/pin coming loose on the Wicked laser?

I had to return my laser for a new one once. It was not the screw pin. The thing that broke was the little bulb above the trigger button that told me I was engaging the laser. So I put a turn of vinyl tape around that spot on my new pointer. That's why you should get the extended warranty. They had a 14 day turn around on my defective laser.

Hey Moonbeam,
Where do you teach tree climbing? Have I met you?

This is a good point. I'm seriously considering another vender as well as Wicked Lasers. www.rayfoss.com has some really cool ones. I like the 100mw rather than 200mw.

it would be nice to have a laser powerful enough to burn lines into the tree bark. That way I wouldn't need to remember what to cut and what not to cut. After a customer agrees on what to cut, just mark it. I don't know if this is too out of this world, or could it actually be done, and how if anyone knows.
