ACP- Gear inspection. was created by treeman
ANSI says inspect your gear before every use. Is that all? Should recreational standards go a step further and say something like “before use, during use, and after use?”

Define "use".

I inspect often, actually there is an inspection every time I use a piece of gear. Unclip...clip...inspect...

Strong limbs and single ropes!

Yup,
Should be automatic. Good line to copy...INSPECT YOUR GEAR ALL THE TIME.

I made a drop once, during my window washing days, coming down the line I noticed what looked like a pick. Then I realised it was a piece of the core strands, I only noticed because it had singed on the end as my HOT rack passed over on the previous drop...it was a good time to end the days work. Inspection should become an automatic part of every climbers technique.

I agree. We need to encourage an attitude of constant awareness of the state of our climbing equipment. Inspect before, during, and after the climb.
