great foot ascender

Just started climbing 3 months ago. This ascender came with the Tree worker kit I bought. At first awkward, because this was all new to me(climbing/ropes). But after experience/knowledge it is very dependable. Works as should, no complaints.

Makes going up a breeze.

After reading several reviews I decided to go with the cmi over the petzl. Took me a minute to figure out how to position it on my foot but after that it works like a charm.

A huge improvement

I have been climbing recreationally for about 3 years. Until I got the CMI ascender I was doing my DRT climbing with looping the rope around one foot and holding with the other. The ascender made a huge difference in efficiency. It took only a few minutes to get the hang of and it is showing no signs of wear so far during the year or so that I have had it. You do have to pull the rope through with foot or hand until you are a little ways off the ground.

Great way to go up

Works really well when using eye to eye with an XT hitch. A little difficult when starting at the ground because rope won't "self feed" due to a lack of weight, you have to use other foot with loop around it to pull it through. Once up to about the 8' mark there is enough rope below.

Great way to use the large muscle of your legs.
